With the 2024-2025 fall season coming to a close, Cape Coral High School’s bowling teams strive to work their way to the top.
Cape High’s bowling teams are full of teamwork, friendship, excellence and lots of dedication. “We’re able to make eachother laugh even when we mess up and to keep our energy,” explained senior Tashiana Baez.
Boys team Coach Lamar Bryant and Girls team Coach Anthony Foster have made a significant impact on their teams helping them grow as bowlers and succeed past districts, while also helping the teams obtain a great bond with one another. “The goal every season is to qualify for the state tournament. We achieved that goal and I am very proud of our team,” said Foster.
With Seniors Brooke Pabst, Tashiana Baez, Haruna Mescalolado, Daniel Lynn, Kaloeb Ayala and Owen Kurth, leaving the nest, we hope to see future greatness and improvement from new and existing players on the team. “Watching the team win a district championship was the best part, the excitement of winning and sending the seniors out as champions,” expressed Foster.
Both Cape High bowling teams have made several players gain a passion for bowling as well as wishes to bowl professionally. “I have already committed to Maryville University in St. Louis Missouri to continue my bowling career,” stated Pabst.
In the districts, the girls finished strong in the traditional rounds with 2,549 total pins, which ultimately made them the number one seed for playoffs. They played against, and beat Fort Myers High School, Bishop Verot and Cypress lake highschool to take the championship home.
While being in the state championship, the girls ended with 3,218 total pins which made them the number eight seed for the playoffs. They finished in 8th place after going 2-2.
The boys team finished with 2,944 total pins in the traditional round which made them the champions of district 11. They finally got to play against Mariner High School, their rivals who they lost against during the season before districts. “The best game we did had to have been the final game of districts when we beat Mariner,” stated Miles Kissinger.
After Districts the boys continued their journey at states and even though it didn’t go as intended, they finished having some great memories and an excellent team bond. “Bowling has brought me not just a career and passion, it brought me family and friendships that will last a lifetime,” stated Lynn.
One of the boys team key players Daniel Lynn made an excellent accomplishment of being state champion individually. “These past four years have been amazing, and it’s been an honor to represent Cape Coral highschool. I’m beyond blessed to be able to have such amazing friends, family and coaches alongside me. What a great way to end off my senior year,” said Lynn.
Both the teams showed great dedication and sportsmanship through their wins and losses, but while they were away at districts and states their schedule was packed tight.
Both girls and boys had early practices and competitions throughout the day. They practiced a lot and ultimately it paid off making them both district champions. “We had been working so hard all year going undefeated that I knew we had it in us to win districts and we did just that,” explained Pabst, “States as a team was nothing more I could have asked for.”
Even though they were on separate teams both the boys and girls have created bonds that will last a lifetime through their passion for bowling, and that shouldn’t go unnoticed. “Our team chemistry this year was great, we’re a family and help eachother grow along the way, we help each other here and there, and we always cheer each other up to keep everyone happy,” expressed Lynn.
It will never be a secret that the 2024-2025 bowling season was definitely something to remember, it will be cherished by the coaches, the players and the school. They showed their dedication on the lanes and didn’t hold back and that is admirable to everyone.
