IB Ambassadors just released the winners for the February IB Student of the Month. Congratulations to freshman Hailey Goodwin, sophomore Katelyn Le, junior Aden Hoentsch, and senior Makiah Michaels.
IB Student of the Month occurs every month when the recognition committee of IB Ambassadors chooses a topic, and the student body casts their votes on who they think best fits the guidelines outlining the chosen topic. This month’s chosen topic was the most caring IB student. The students chosen best reflect the traits IB students constantly strive for.
Some describe winner Hailey Goodwin as sweet and hardworking. Freshman Sophia Becker said, “I chose Hailey as IB student of the month for February this year because she is simply one of the sweetest and most caring friends that I have made this year. Also, I know for a fact that she is not only a good person but a good student with the classes that I do have with her.”
Others say that she is not only a good student but their role model as well. “I chose Hailey because she is a very well-rounded student and she is a role model. Hailey sets the expectations of how you should behave in the classroom,” explained freshman Sydney Russell.
Friends and teachers surrounding Goodwin saw the constant compassionate traits and exhibition of IB qualities throughout the school year. It can be hard to get your work done while also helping and caring about your peers, but Goodwin does it all.
Katelyn Le is “not only a kind and caring individual according to the IB standards but constantly keeps to her standards as well,” explained sophomore Brettney Gallas. “She is so kind and always willing to help others around here”.
Aden Hoentsch is described as warmhearted, thoughtful, and attentive according to friends and peers that surround him. “Aden has always been a helping hand and very passionate about his studies. He is always the first person I go to if I have a question about something I don’t understand,” said junior David Hernandez.
Others describe Hoentsch as smart and determined, constantly focused but willing to help. “He’s really smart and actually cares about school. He makes me want to care about school more,” stated junior Salah Eddine Bennekaa.
Makiah Michaels, senior winner of IB student of the month, is known by friends and family to be positive and friendly. Senior Olivia Toro expressed her friendship towards Michaels, “Makiah is most caring because of her positive attitude towards all IB students and eagerness to make new friends and connections. She strives to help other students when the chance is presented.”
Others stated how Michaels is always eager to help. “Makiah is always trying to take care of her friends by asking how they’re doing and if they need help with anything. She is incredibly intelligent and very helpful when it comes to helping with school, work, or personal things,” stated senior Sophia Vianest.
The winners have expressed the honor and pride they feel in their accomplishments. Michaels said, “Being an IB student of the month makes me feel honored. It makes me feel good knowing that my peers consider me to be a caring person.”
