As spring approaches, it’s once again the time for juniors and seniors to dive into the exciting hunt for prom dresses and dapper suits, all set to embrace the nostalgic flair of The Roaring 20s. A great deal of deliberation went into choosing the prom theme.
“We had a meeting discussing all the possible themes we wanted to do. We were debating between Arabian Nights, under the Sea, and the Roaring 20s, but ultimately we decided upon the Roaring 20s, obviously,” shared Sabrina Manso-Perez, the fundraising director for the junior class at Cape High. Hence, the theme for the 2025 prom is confirmed to be the Roaring 20s, ensuring a night filled with unforgettable memories.
In keeping with last year’s trend, this year’s prom will be hosted at the Alderman House in Fort Myers, Florida, running from 7 PM to 11 PM. Ticket prices will remain consistent with previous years: $60 for seniors, $75 for juniors, and $95 for guests from outside Cape Coral High School.
As per tradition, the Student Government Association (SGA) takes the lead in organizing the prom, usually with junior members spearheading the efforts. To fund the event, the Class of 2026 participated in various fundraising activities.
“We asked for donations at Sam’s Club and Publix, and also sold chips to raise money. We raised about $1000 this year,” remarked Sandra Johnson, the Class of 2026 SGA sponsor. The fundraising initiatives began during their freshman year, concentrating primarily on activities geared toward prom.
The funds gathered will not only cover the venue and catering but will also significantly enhance the decorations to reflect this year’s theme: the Roaring 20s. “We are looking forward to ordering a Model T Ford, which is a really old car from the ’20s, and it’s going to perfectly match the vibe of the whole dance,” stated Manso-Perez. A classic car from the 1920s is a vital touchpoint that encapsulates the essence of the Roaring 20s and will undoubtedly become a focal point at prom. The Class of 2026 has carefully curated every detail about décor and activities, going beyond just dancing. “We are going to have a lemonade bar that’s already there and small treats since we aren’t planning on having any huge foods,” elaborated Manso-Perez.
Music is a pivotal aspect of prom, and the thrilling aspect this year is that students will have the chance to choose the playlist and dance the night away to their favorite tunes. “We have forms out on the Google Classrooms, on the actual SGA website, as well as polls on the Instagram accounts, and people can drop their music recommendations, and the recommendations go straight to the DJ for prom,” explained Manso-Perez.
Attending prom is just one part of the experience, but the standout features are undoubtedly the outfits and their vibrant colors. The SGA has provided a variety of suggestions for color themes, ranging from deep shades to bright, dazzling golds. Manso-Perez noted, “I think the best colors for prom would be gold, black, reds, and dark greens. Those would best suit the theme for prom.”
Sophomore Mya Ramirez expressed her enthusiasm, “I’m so excited for this year’s prom, I think it’s going to be the best one yet!”
