Have you ever been searching for a new movie to watch on Netflix, and you come across a movie that you’ve watched, and they are continuing to make a new second part of it? Creating new sequels and remakes of shows and movies ruins everything about some films.
There are a multitude of movies that most definitely did not need a remake or a sequel. Yet, the producers continue to make it. One prime example is the movie “After” directed by Jenny Gage. “After” has been made into a sequel with more than 3 parts.
The “After” film series in total has 5 different movies created with all having similar plotlines. The “After” series is about a love story between a young college student named Tessa and an emotionally unstable man named Hardin. Throughout all five movies, it shows the problematic journey of their love.
There are currently five movies of “After”, and a sixth one is scheduled to be released sometime during 2025. Every movie that has been out so far has had the same plot over and over again. It’s getting to the point where the producers and directors are dragging the story out to the max.
Another prime controversial opinion that did not need all the parts it had was “Divergent”. Lots of fans, including myself, were very displeased with finding out that there was a fourth movie coming out. The fourth movie was originally planned to be released a year after the third one, but due to its poor reactions, it had to be cancelled.
If you have to cancel a fourth movie, that should be a major sign showing that certainly, the three other parts were not necessary. We would have just been doing fine with it being a trilogy as it is now.
Numerous fans have expressed that they felt as if creating Divergent into a sequel was a dumb, unthought-out choice. Fans say that after the first movie, the parts were rushed and not properly done. The first Divergent was a wonderful creation. As always, the original is always peak, and nothing could replace that. Forming multiple movies after that ruined the whole plot, and just focused their attention on other things that barely had to do with the movies.
I guarantee that you, yourself, have a movie in mind that did not need to be a ten-part series. Not every movie or show should be supported in making it as a sequel or completely remaking it into something new.
