The girls’ softball team has had an outstanding season, surpassing the expectations of many. They concluded their regular season with an impressive record of 18-5. This extraordinary team is committed to doing whatever it takes to secure victories again and again.
They have tirelessly worked for all their achievements. “Our team this season has been amazing, and all the girls have pushed through so much with training and games, which has really shown in our performance,” shared sophomore Emma Brannan.
Sophomore and captain Allie Buice emphasized, “I think our performance this season is excellent. The improvement from last season to this season is incredible, both as a team and as individual players. I see a lot of advancement, and I am excited for the future.”
At the beginning of the season, this team set multiple goals, and they have successfully met them. “This season, my team has broken many of our past records, and we work to maintain our success,” said freshman Cheyenne Sharb.
They also aimed to defeat more competitive teams. Buice noted, “We even won games against tougher opponents, which was one of our goals entering this year’s season.”
The girls faced off against their rival teams, Mariner High School and Ida Baker High School this year. They were defeated by Mariner on both occasions, experiencing a challenging loss of 10-0 and a closely contested game that ended 3-1. However, they triumphed over Ida Baker, winning decisively with scores of 18-10 and 16-2.
Throughout the season, these athletes have developed strong communication skills and made the experience fun for everyone involved. They’ve cultivated one of the best seasons yet, playing better than ever. “I think one of the reasons we are succeeding this season is because we always have fun and we get along great as a team,” stated Buice.
Participating in sports creates lasting memories and reminds players of their remarkable season. “My favorite memory was senior night, where they were all so sweet and definitely made us feel old,” said senior Adriana Thornton.
Sharb added, “My favorite memory has to be our Easter egg hunt we were able to put together.”
The team happily remembers the bus rides and post-game food stops. Buice stated, “One of my favorite softball memories is the bus ride home after winning a game, especially against tougher teams.”
Brannan agreed, “My favorite softball memories are when we stop for dinner with the team after home games.”
These girls take great pride in their performance this season and look forward to competing next year.
