On Saturday June 14th, 2025, from 10-6, the Southwest Florida(SWFL) SpaceCon held a comic book and sci-fi convention at the German American Social Club of Cape Coral. Throughout the club, tables were set up with an array of things to interact with, purchase, and admire.
Numerous tables had boxes of comic books, some of which weren’t for sale. The comics available were mainly classics from Marvel, staples valuable to any comic lovers collection.
Collector items were also on display. Funko Pops and trading cards from franchises such as Pokémon and One Piece were available for purchase.
For those who brought their own cards, there was a table set up for people to trade with one another.
The tables were run by artists that were showing off their collections, selling their work, or even working on their art as the convention was going on. The art present depicted a wide variety of popular characters, such as those from Five Nights at Freddy’s, Sonic, Ghostbusters, and Undertale.Â
The type of artistic creations showcased were very diverse and each piece was unique to its’ creator. The art forms included homemade jewelry, wooden building kits, drawing, characters made from ironed perler beads, three-dimensional printing, novels, and more.
The novels were accompanied by their established authors promoting their newest works.Â
Author Brian Gardner was present promoting his book, Ohlegan’s Treasure: Search for the Runes. Along with Gardner, author Joshua Ingle was present as well promoting his book, The Bad Part of Time.Â
Other less established authors also made appearances for the purpose of getting their name out there among the comic obsessed.Â
Other celebrities in the anime and comic world made appearances, most notably the anime voice actors Hannah Alyea and Alex Mai.
On top of that, creator and illustrators Mike J Sealie and Stuntman Brett Heneise were there to interact with the fans and have a good time.Â
In lieu of meeting their favorite big names in the comic business, attendees had their pick of interactive games set up throughout the venue.
There were monitors set up along the club for people to play video games such as F-Zero and Mario Kart, and for the younger croud there was an arts and crafts table set up.
For those into non-digital fun, tables were set up for different types of card games, chess, checkers, and Dungeons and Dragons. The Dungeons and Dragons table was set up with a brief story for the Dungeon Master.
