Every year during summer, romance fans look forward to a new season of the infamous “Love Island”. The show causes a wild attraction every year and never dies out, this year it was particularly doted on and caused mass hysteria among teenagers all over.
There are 7 seasons of love island, and each season brings new opinions and commotion. This year has been one of the most controversial seasons to ever be released so far.
The show revolves around a group of single contestants known as “Islanders”, living together in a secluded villa. The premise of the show is to find love and couple up with each other, those who remain single are eliminated and kicked out of the villa.
The public gets involved, voting on their favorite couple, and at the end of the season that couple wins a cash prize.
This season was the worst season I’ve honestly ever watched and a majority of fans are expressing the same sentiments. The producers heavily influenced this year’s decision, while in previous seasons they had less pull. Because of this, the show has gotten a lot of backlash and hate, deservingly.
The producers made a terrible decision in the casting for this year, several of the contestants had problematic backstories and were outed to be disrespectful, even accused of being racist. Due to the horrifying things that came to light while they were on the show, producers had to kick off two of the contestants. If that isn’t a red flag for you, then I don’t know what is.
Not only were the producers making poor choices on who to cast, but they completely switched the whole point and dynamic of the show. The iconic challenges that were always an essential part of the fun, cornerstones of previous seasons, were excluded and replaced with others.
It was painfully obvious that the producers manipulated the audience’s votes when it came time to choose how the show would move forward. In fact, they did more than manipulate the votes. They attempted to change the way that viewers perceived the Islanders. The producers purposefully tried to make people in the show seem like the villain/victims when it was not at all played out that way.
Viewers that were caught up with the show and all of the drama revolving around it, true Love Islanders, had an overload of opinions to share on why this year’s seasons honestly shouldn’t even have been aired.
The whole point of “Love Island” is in the name, “love”. It’s to find love with someone you could potentially see yourself working out with in the outside world.
To anyone watching this season, it was plain to see that this was clearly not the case at all. As soon as the people residing in the villa got anywhere close to “love”, they got voted out.
All in all, at this rate this whole season had to be ragebait because honestly what was up with this year. Stay tuned in to see how next year plays out, hopefully Love Island producers take a much needed reflection and fix it.
