“From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” was one of the best movies to be produced in the John Wick Franchise. This movie had everything from highly action packed fight scenes to scenes where you can feel the emotion pouring out of the characters.
Actor Ana de Armas, plays a girl named Eve, and her father was killed by an assassin group when she was little, she was taken by a separate assassin group and became a trained killer. She took these skills she learned and went rogue in search of the people who killed her father, played by David Castañeda.
Eve in fact gets what she wants even though she was hunted relentlessly by every person apart of the group, she clawed her way to the person who ended her father’s life and took his.
Armas definitely was the right person for the role as Eve. Armas captured the role of a heart broken daughter seeking vengeance and gave off the ‘cool tough girl’ vibe throughout the movie.
The director, Len Wiseman truly did a phenomenal job in creating this movie in every aspect from the lighting, sound effects, music, camera angles, and even the actors themselves. When comparing this production to other movies Wiseman has directed like ‘Underworld’ and ‘Total Recall’ , this is truly one of his best.
Having a female lead instead of a man in this kind of movie is kind of empowering. Wiseman made it realistic that since she was a woman she wasn’t as strong as a man but still came out on top in the end.
John Wick movies have always been good, but this one was more of a spin off but it truly was good. Usually spin offs are a hit or miss, and this one was a hit.
The main aspect of this movie that really pulled it all together was the fighting scenes. Like stated before, this movie was filled with highly intense fight scenes but these weren’t just regular fist fights.
These scenes consisted of brutal violence but in the sense it is a John Wick movie, that isn’t out of the ordinary. But the angles that were being used really captured the whole scene, it felt as if you were actually there watching it in first person and that is something you want to capture especially in a John Wick Movie.
Even though this movie was a spin off from ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ it was disappointing that Keanu Reeves (John Wick) only had 10 minutes of screen time, maybe even less. The movie is already great but it would have made it 10 times better if Reeves had more screen time.
Another thing that made this movie really great was the script. Shay Hatten, the script writer for ‘Ballerina’ made sure that each line was carefully thought out. Nothing that was said by the characters seemed unnecessary.
Overall, “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” exceeded expectations from what anyone thought it was going to be. This movie definitely is in the top 10 best spin off’s ever created in cinematic history.
