Homecoming is a crucial part of Highschool, and this year Cape Coral High School presents students with a unique theme “Ritmo Do Rio” [Rhythm of Rio]. Cape High is bringing Brazil to the nest with a night full of dancing, beautiful scenery, and excitement on October 11th, 2025 from 7:00pm-10:00pm.
Ticket prices are going to be $45 for Cape High students and $65 for outside guests and the tickets will be live on GoFan on September 29th.
Brazil is a beautiful country with a lively community and it seems perfect to take inspiration from Brazil and the movie, Rio, to create the perfect hoco theme. “This theme is not just focusing on the pretty aesthetic but the culture in Brazil as well,” Executive Board Senior President, Kyra Hayes stated, “We are trying to give that surreal effect of Rio Carnival.”
Homecoming is obviously a night full of fun and excitement but being able to produce a dance that is well thought out and not basic is amazing.
Similar to every year, students are able to cast a vote on the homecoming theme at a student government general meeting to decide what the theme is. “We had a bunch of good ideas but that one was the most voted on,” stated Hayes.
The thing that really pulls the dance together is the decorations. Junior class president, Aeris Romero stated, “We really want to try and incorporate as many colorful and vibrant decorations as possible. We are thinking of some feathers incorporated in lights to make the place feel lively.”
Junior Executive Board Secretary Tatyana Domingo agreed, stating, “We are trying to incorporate decorations that are seen at the festival such as feathers, and anything with bright colors as well as taking some inspiration from the Rio movies.”
This theme is obviously inspired from a festival Carnival as well as the movie that displays this perfectly, drawing inspiration from these two things can end up being successful if done correctly.
Music is proven to be one of the most important aspects of any dance, so it is crucial that the music this year can top last years as it wasn’t up to par. Domingo stated, “I do think the music will be better than last year as this DJ we hired is very adaptive and listens to any recommendations or feedback we have.”
In agreement with Domingo, Hayes stated, “ The music is most likely going to be better than last year because we have a different DJ and he really knows how to read a room.”
Some students choose to go out to dinner before a night filled with dancing, but even then dancing and moving around can spark some hunger around. “For food it’s not going to be anything serious since people go out to eat before and sometimes after the dance, so it’s mostly going to be desserts and stuff like that,” stated Hayes.
