This year’s cheer team is taking actions to improve their skills and make themselves better than ever before. Over this past summer the cheer team was tirelessly training for this upcoming season. They have been up to their elbows in practices in order to perfect skills such as stunts, tumbling, and cheers to wow the crowds each and every week.
There have been some changes to the cheer team compared to last year. Senior Captain Layla Sambrato stated, “This cheer season is different from last cheer season because we are all on one big varsity team now and do everything together.”
Senior Captain Vanessa Alvarado also said, “This year I have seen growth, not only in me but also on my team, spending time with each other and working hard before and during the season helped the team create such a great bond.”
From new cheer stunts to new dances, the new coaches of the cheer team have really helped to support the cheerleaders and help them grow. “The coaches this year are so supportive and are willing to do whatever it takes for us to shine,” said Captain Alvarado.
Rangel added, “We definitely have more resources inside school if we need help with anything since we now have a coach in the building. This is especially helpful since the new phone rule this year doesn’t allow us to message our coach during the school day,”.
There is nobody second guessing the cheer team’s ability to show off and show out this year. “We have a bunch of highly qualified, talented, and motivated girls on the cheer team. I have no doubt that we aren’t going to show up and show out at every game we cheer at,” said cheer coach Alana Newell.
Captain Sabroto stated, “This year’s team is very committed and impactful. We all show up to practice to work and get things done and make the most of our season.”
Captain Alvarado added, “These girls have true dedication towards the team.”
The cheer team has plans and goals that they plan to accomplish this season. “I’m also looking forward to eventually seeing the team go competitive in a few years,” said Sambrato.
The Seahawk cheerleaders are looking forward to the upcoming events and seeing promising results this season. Sambrado stated, “I’m excited to have such a big team at pep rallies and events and I’m really looking forward to seeing how much we have improved by the end of the season.”
Captain Sambrato stated, “This year has been my favorite year so far out of my last four years and I’m so grateful to have such a good team and coaches for my last year. We are going to show up and show out. Let’s go Seahawks!”
