October is a month full of scares and of course, Halloween movies. On Monday, October 20th, tickets went on sale for the Halloween Movie Night hosted by the student government class of 2028. This is a good activity to do with some friends on an October night.
Although the tickets went on sale October 20th, the actual event will be happening on Friday the 24th. Tickets for the event cost $5 and were available for purchase on the GoFan app.
The movie that has been shown is the 2015 movie Goosebumps, starring Jack Black as R.L. Stine, Odeya Rush as Hannah Fairchild and Dylan Minnette as Zach. The whole event took place in the auditorium from 7 to 10 P.M, though it’s expected to end when the movie is finished.
Linsey Uphoff, the class of 2028’s sponsor, mainly pulled the strings behind it. The whole group spent weeks planning, organizing, and perfecting the event to make it as memorable for students as possible.
Angela Del Valle, class of 2028 president states, “The planning is a crucial part to make sure that the movie night is a success.” Making sure everyone agrees on a movie, getting the logistics settled, booking an area, as well as snacks is the only way Cape Coral High School students have these kinds of events.
Catalina Parra, class of 2028 Vice President thought communicating with administration was a larger part. “Planning was that we had to communicate with the administrators in the school to see when, what day it was available, and what type of snacks we were gonna offer.” she stated.
SGA has done several things to increase turnout. All ranging from physical posters, to word-of-mouth conversations. Parra felt like their marketing strategies would pay off, stating, “I think it depends on the event. I feel like, for example, for the movie night. That might work” She also commented, “But for other events, sometimes people just kind of repost it, but don’t even go.”
This event will be pretty lenient, though the rules in place will be strictly enforced. Uphoff said there will be absolutely no blankets allowed, and that she, the other class sponsors, and certain administrators would all be supervising the whole time, making sure everyone is following the rules.
People attending the event will find themselves lounging in the auditorium seats, watching the movie on the projector above the stage in the auditorium. This will give the whole experience a magical, movie-like atmosphere.
Uphoff said that all students are welcome, but had some thoughts on specifically who was allowed: “Cape Coral High School students, not previous graduates, you have to be an active student, and no outside guests.”
While entering the building, students will not be required to show a student ID to get in, but they will need to be students at the school to get in. Although the student ID is not required to get in, tickets purchased on GoFan will need to be shown at the door to be allowed into the school.
Uphoff explained the food situation, “There’ll be an assortment of snacks and treats and beverages. So much that I can’t even tell you specifically what will be offered.” Make sure if you’re bringing money that it’s physical cash, since the staff here would not take anything but that.
Concessions will be sold in the auditorium and will be available for purchase during the event. The food is not included in the original price of the ticket.
In addition to the movie screening, there will be opportunities to socialize and have fun with classmates and friends outside of school. Attendees are encouraged to come in their best Halloween spirit, since the date will be falling just days before Halloween. The whole event will serve as a time to unwind from the hustle and bustle of school, get festive, and enjoy a nice night out with your friends.
