It’s not a secret that student athletes can become overwhelmed with sports, school, and a social life. Athletes tend to have really early mornings, and super late nights. Being a student athlete is incredibly hard when handling extracurriculars and the overall pressure of trying to time manage, these actions definitely deserve praise.
This doesn’t even take into consideration other things such as homework, jobs, volunteering, and studying expected from student athletes. Somehow they still end up getting their work done while also performing at a high level for their sport. Not to mention multiple student athletes that play for more than one team.
Some student athletes play for a high school team and a club or travel team. This means multiple practices a day, or even games. Participation in this much of an activity leaves little time to get anything done.
Most days student athletes feel overworked, overwhelmed, and exhausted. These students still show up everyday doing their absolute best, not only on the field but also in the school building. They do this running off a solid 5 hours of sleep at most continuing to be determined to succeed both academically, and on the pitch.
Whether the practice is conditioning, lifting, film review, batting practice, or scrimmaging the athletes always show up to give their dedication to their coach. This is similarly to how they dedicate their days to their education and school in general.
Sports already are tough on the mind, and body. On top of that, student athletes have long school days where they are constantly using their brain. Games can be draining, after a loss sometimes it is hard to come back motivated to think about things such as math or science.
Student athletes somehow always manage to get it done. Truthfully these students have two major roles they have to take on every single day. Student athletes do it all and deserve more recognition and appraisal for all they do.
