One piece does not deserve all of the hype and love it gets from anime fans. It’s a show with over 1,500 episodes, 15 movies, four original video animations (OVAs), and 14 TV specials.
There isn’t a show in the world that could possibly have this many episodes and genuinely entertain a watcher. Its episodes have horrible pacing with each episode adapting one or less than one manga chapter. Other anime, for example, usually adapt two to three chapters per episode.
In other words, three episodes of One Piece, which is about one hour in total, accounts for one episode of another anime which is about 20 minutes. Such slow pacing only bores a watcher and causes one to want to switch to another show, preferably one that keeps teh viewer on the edge of their seat.
Surprisingly, the anime doesn’t have as high of a filler count in comparison to other anime. These are episodes which aren’t canon, they’re basically irrelevant to the actual plot.
Fans of this show will always try to convince others to watch it by claiming that after 500 episodes it will be more enjoyable and will prove why viewers think it’s so good. It is ridiculous to state that a person has to watch about 170 hours worth of a show to finally understand the fan base perspective.
It is commendable that people have the time or patience to commit to watching this show. It’s also praise worthy that these fans continue to watch the show when others would’ve already gotten angry at its pacing and given up on it.
Another reason as to why One Piece is not worth it is the fans. Nobody would want to associate themselves with a show whose viewers are known for hating on every other anime to exist and will hate on others if One Piece isn’t someone’s favorite show of all time.
One of the best things about anime is the animation. People love to see intricate animation that flows smoothly and looks incredible.
One Piece has too much of an inconsistent animation quality. Some episodes will be good and appealing to the eye while others look like it was drawn by novices. This added on to the slow pacing of the show makes it even more unappealing to a potential viewer.
There are millions of other anime shows that have been created. So many of them actually have a good pacing, aren’t over 1000 episodes, and have incredible, but still consistent animation quality.
To say that One Piece is the best anime of all time when every single episode is a repeat of the previous one with barely five minutes of new information is insane. If these people would only take the time to watch one or two episodes of another highly popular anime they’d realize why One Piece is so hated on.
Others don’t experience having to watch 100 episodes to understand why the main character acted a certain way 100 episodes back.
This anime is redundant and doesn’t deserve the levels of engagement it has. The fact that it will most likely continue for another 1000 episodes and people will genuinely watch and enjoy them is baffling to say the least.
