Nana, a classic anime full of an excellent blend of drama, romance, and music. This anime is a depiction of the life of two young best friends living together; it’s perfect when it comes to entertainment. This is definitely an anime that everyone should give a look at as there are so many different plots that really piece the show together.
A major piece of the show that may be overlooked is the fact that the two main characters “Nana” played by Romi Park, and the other “Nana” (also known as Hachi) played by Midori Kawana, had nothing but one interaction with each other. This adds to the overall connection between the two characters when they happen to move in together by coincidence. Their bond was completely random as they were the complete opposite personality wise.
The romance of this show might just be perfect as it has many intense, and entertaining highs and lows for “Hachi”. The broken hearts and raw emotions embedded in the animation make the show worth the watch even if they don’t go the supposed better way. It definitely depicts the feeling of being a young adult being thrown into the world of romance for the first time.
This anime is one of few that was able to actually portray young adults in an accurate way, as other shows tend to lean toward a certain fallacy of young adults that is inaccurate. These young teens go through the struggles of life and take it on with responsibility learning through their actions.
One of the main plots is about a self made band that aspires to take the stage and perform for people showcasing their incredible talent. This aspect of the anime is presented in a way that makes a simple plot a theme. These characters never gave up on their dream and with the support of each other they conquered their dream to the best of their abilities all by following their heart.
The plot twists worked into the show leaves each viewer on their toes throughout the show. After the first few there is a lingering feeling of a billion different possibilities.
The end of the show was rather disappointing, especially for the people who had read the manga. The manga is much more descriptive, diving deeper into each character’s life a lot more than the anime.
The anime is a summed up version of the manga, which was a disappointment as many of the key elements in the manga got left out. This leaves a rushed feel in the end.
The animation in this particular anime is clean and matches the overall vibe of the series incredibly well. This animation is rather mature, but it also alludes to a more dramatic tone. Even the characters’ looks go perfectly with the story line, creating a better depiction of who each character actually is without them having to spell it out.
“Nana” is an anime that many love to indulge in. For those who haven’t given it a shot should definitely open their minds to the world of “Nana”, even if anime isn’t a preferred genre.
